Description

Oil-Immersed Grounding Transformer Product Description

17.5kV 20kV oil-immersed grounding transformer are designed to provide an artificial neutral point for ungrounded three-phase power systems.

During a line ground fault, the oil-immersed grounding transformer provides an easy path for the ground fault, thereby limiting the fault current and transient overvoltage.

Oil-immersed grounding transformer usually generates a short-circuit grounding current until the circuit breaker clears the fault. Therefore, their time is shorter.

Oil-immersed  grounding transformer depends on the normal line-to-neutral voltage and the fault current value for a specified time (e. g., seconds to minutes).

Wait a moment and use the Checklist below to gather the following (13) basic oil-immersed grounding transformer information:

  1. winding configuration; sawtooth or two windings.
  2. voltage and BIL; line-to-line value of the system to which the grounding transformer is to be connected. If a two-winding grounding transformer is required, a secondary voltage must also be provided.
  3. continuous neutral current.
  4. the neutral fault current and duration available to the system; for example, 500 amps for 10 seconds and 4000 amps for 2 seconds.
  5. zero sequence impedance percentage.
  6. Impedance in ohms per phase.
  7.  in ohms.
  8. X/R ratio; usually> 4.0.
  9. special application conditions; I .e. 2000 MASL, etc.
  10. enclosure construction or NEMA specified preferences; I .e. high security zoned top, standard ventilation or substation design, special paint colors, etc.
  11. terminal connection preferences; I .e. dead front, living front, regular terminal, etc.
  12. winding material; CU if not specified.
  13. transformer temperature rise; if not specified, 150 ° c.

FAQ
Q: Which application scenarios are suitable for three-phase oil-immersed grounding transformers?
A:

It is widely used in medium and high voltage three-phase power systems such as 10kV, 35kV, 46kV, including industrial parks, power distribution substations, wind farms, photovoltaic power stations, and mining areas. It is especially suitable for outdoor installation scenarios that require reliable grounding protection, high insulation performance, and low maintenance demand.

Q:What are the daily maintenance focuses of three-phase oil-immersed grounding transformers?

A:Routine maintenance mainly includes regular inspection of oil level, oil color and oil tightness to prevent oil leakage and oil quality degradation; cleaning the tank surface to ensure heat dissipation efficiency; verifying the operation status of protective devices such as gas relays and pressure relief valves; and periodically testing the insulation performance and zero-sequence impedance of the three-phase windings.

Q:Can three-phase oil-immersed grounding transformers be customized for special working environments?

A:Yes. According to different working environments, manufacturers can customize the tank structure (such as anti-corrosion coating for chemical areas, anti-vibration design for mining areas), insulation level (adapt to high-humidity or high-altitude areas), and oil type (synthetic ester oil for fire-prone areas) to meet the personalized operation needs of various harsh environments.

Q:Can the zero-sequence impedance of three-phase oil-immersed grounding transformers be adjusted according to system requirements?

A:Yes. The zero-sequence impedance can be flexibly adjusted by optimizing the winding structure (such as zig-zag winding parameters) and core design. It can be customized according to the fault current limitation requirements of the target power system to achieve optimal coordination with the system protection device.
